    Common anxiety symptoms include:

    • Nervousness, restlessness or being tense
    • Feelings of danger, panic or dread
    • Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
    • Increased or heavy sweating
    • Trembling or muscle twitching
    • Weakness or lethargy
    • Persistent worries
    • Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
    • Difficulty falling or staying asleep
    • Irritability

In cognitive behavioral therapy, anxiety is addressed though a variety of techniques including learning different types of relaxation strategies and how to change unhelpful thinking patterns contributing to your anxiety. Your therapist may also help you engage in exposure exercises, which involve you confronting different types of situations that you’ve been avoiding due to your anxiety symptoms.
