General Psychotherapy
Many people feel anxious about the idea of starting psychotherapy, so it can be helpful to know what to expect. If you contact Good Neighbor Psychology, we’ll conduct a brief phone assessment to get an idea what kinds of concerns you’d like to address. Next, we’ll schedule an intake session. During this visit, the psychologist will ask you questions about your mental health and medical history, to help us make the best possible treatment recommendations.
Through Good Neighbor Psychology’s general psychotherapy service patients receive cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a structured treatment, geared toward reducing symptoms. Regular attendance is important, with most patients attending one 60-minute session each week. Although there is no specific limit to the number of sessions you can attend, most patients complete treatment in 8-12 sessions on average. Psychotherapy can address a variety of concerns including general anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobia, depression, insomnia, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, and peripartum/postpartum mental health concerns, and sexual difficulties.
